In Pictures: The New Forest Show 2016

Thousands of visitors have been attending the New Forest and Hampshire County Show.

The annual event three-day is held at the New Park showground near Brockenhurst.

With more than 90,000 visitors expected over three days, organisers introduced new measures to improve traffic flows.

Highlights include displays the Metropolitan Police horse equestrian team and an attempt to beat the world record for throwing wellington boots.

Local horticulture groups staged displays in the floral tent

The show, which was first held in 1921 is a highlight in the local farming calendar.

A full range of equestrian events and horticultural displays are being held, as well as livestock competitions.

Animals on show include cattle and sheep, plus a poultry section, rabbits, cage birds, and honey bees.

More than 600 people threw wellies in a world record attempt

Six hundred and sixteen people took part in a "welly wanging", in aid of disabled children's charity SmallSteps.

Organisers are waiting for official confirmation of a world record from Guinness for the large number of Wellington Boots thrown simultaneously.

Sophie Countess of Wessex presented some of the livestock awards

Sophie Countess of Wessex visited the show in her capacity as the 79th president of the New Forest Agricultural Show Society.

She toured the showground chatting to traders and presenting some of the livestock awards.
