Southampton: Roads reopen as police investigate gunshot reports

Police cordons have been removed but officers will remain in the area

Roads have reopened after a man was seen firing a weapon at another man near to a school.

Officers are investigating the reported gunshots after they were called to Middle Road, Sholing, Southampton, at 13:30 BST on Friday.

Hampshire Constabulary said the men got into separate vehicles and drove away. It is believed they knew each other.

Officers remain in the area and the cordon by Oasis Academy has been removed.

No injuries were reported at the time, police said.

The school said it did not go into a formal lockdown but that the site was quickly secured.

The force is appealing for witnesses and information.
