Basingstoke: No community group interest in Camrose stadium site

The Camrose stadium was home to the Basingstoke Town FC for more than 70 years
No community groups have come forward with plans for a football stadium that could now be redeveloped.
Permission was granted in 2022 for 85 dwellings and a 70-bedroom care home on the Camrose stadium site in Basingstoke.
As the ground is an asset of community value, groups had until 12 December to register an interest in bidding.
But Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said "no expressions of interest were received".
The Camrose had been home to Basingstoke Town FC for more than 70 years, but it was forced to relocate after the owner Rafi Razzak put the site up for sale in 2019.
Mr Razzak's company, Basron, announced its intention to sell the land at Camrose in October.
A council spokesperson said: "As the site is listed as an asset of community value, we took the appropriate steps to publicise the proposed sale and informed the ward councillors for South Ham and Basingstoke Town Community Football Club.
"No expressions of interest were received and the legislation does not allow any extension to the six week period."
The deadline for any community interest group to register their interest as a potential bidder passed on 12 December.
