Motorists have been warned to plan ahead as a week of overnight closures start on a main route in a city centre.

The works to resurface Millbrook Flyover will see the road shut both ways from 7 March.

Alongside resurfacing the road maintenance works will also be carried out on the bridge joints of the flyover.

Southampton City Council said the closures will be in place each night from 20:00 to 06:00 GMT.

During the closures each night, a diversion route will be in place via the Millbrook Roundabout.

Elsewhere in the city roadworks on the ring road are also under way, with a temporary one-way system in place on Cumberland Place and Havelock Road.
