Herefordshire residents' chance to query council cuts

Herefordshire residents have a chance to find out how spending cuts are likely to affect public services.

Up to 250 jobs are set to go at the council, which has set a budget designed to save £10.3m in the coming financial year.

Management posts would go, but most frontline services would be safeguarded, Herefordshire council said.

Questions will be answered at customer service centres on a three-day tour.

A visit by the finance department was organised for Monday at the Ledbury facility between 1000 and 1200 GMT and at the Ross centre between 1400 and 1600 GMT.

It will be at Bromyard on Tuesday morning and the Hereford customer service centre at Garrick House in the afternoon.

The department will visit Kington on Wednesday morning and Leominster in the afternoon.

The council said it "has vowed to do everything it can to protect the services depended on by the most vulnerable members of the community".
