Worcestershire roads get £3.8m of surface improvements

Work has begun to improve around 1.78 million sq metres of road surfaces around Worcestershire before August.

Worcestershire County Council is investing £3.8m into its largest programme of surface dressing to improve more than 350 road surfaces.

It will waterproof roads and restore skid resistance, and the council hopes that it will reduce the number of potholes in the future.

The council said traffic could use the new surfaces "almost immediately".

Councillor John Smith, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "There will be the potential for some disruption, but everything will be done to keep this to an absolute minimum."
