Worcester city centre £100m revamp plans recommended for approval

Listed buildings in the area would be incorporated in the redevelopment of the area around the station

Plans for a £100m redevelopment of the area around Worcester's Shrub Hill station have been recommended for approval.

The development would include almost 600 new homes, a care village, offices, a cinema, bowling alley and ice rink.

Developers Sherriff's Gate Limited said the revamp of the 900,000 sq ft (83,612 sq m) around the station would take about four and half years.

A decision will made on the plans by Worcester city council on 19 September.

Sherriff's Gate said the work would be done in three phases, with work to be completed in 2017.

Phase one would include the construction of a 600 space multi-storey car park, and building with shops, offices and apartments.

Two new six-storey buildings including an 80-bed care village, will be built as part of phase two.

Phase three will include the building of a hotel, cinema, ice-skating rink and apartments on a site off Tolladine Road.

The city council said if the plans were approved they would be referred to the the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government.
