New Worcester fire station plans are approved

A new fire station has been approved to replace Worcester's current "ageing" one in the city centre.
Sited off Tolladine Road, the new station will replace the existing Copenhagen Road station, which is 70 years old.
Construction, by developers St Modwen, will take 12 months. The cost of the development is not yet known.
Once the new station is built, the Copenhagen Road building will be sold off, a fire service spokesman said.
Money from the sale will be used to off-set the cost of providing the new station, he added.
