A murder investigation is under way after a man died from stab wounds on Sunday night in Hereford.

Christian Bagley, 30, from Hereford, was found collapsed with "significant" knife injuries to his arm and back in Rogers Avenue at about 22:50 BST.

He was taken to Hereford County Hospital where he later died.

Det Supt Adrian McGee, from West Mercia Police said: "We are working to piece together the exact circumstances of this incident".

Mr Bagley is thought to have been walking along Villa Street when he was attacked on a pathway under the Hunderton Bridge.

He then made his way down Charles Witts Avenue before collapsing in Rogers Avenue where he was found by police, a spokesman said.

Det Supt McGee said: "We ask anyone who may have been walking, cycling or running near to the Hunderton Bridge, Charles Witts Avenue or Rogers Avenue, between 10.40pm and 11pm on Sunday to get in touch with police.

"We are currently following numerous lines of enquiry and any detail, no matter how small, could make a big difference to this investigation."
