A ramen eatery in Worcester has been named the best Japanese restaurant of the year in the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards.

Maneki Ramen beat establishments from Manchester and London to the title.

The business, originally called Lucky Cat Noodle, was in 2021 forced to change its name after a legal challenge by chef Gordon Ramsay who also had a restaurant called Lucky Cat, in London.

Dorian Kirk, one of the owners, said it was "amazing to have won".

Mr Kirk added the team at the restaurant worked "extremely hard" and were "chuffed" by the win.

He also said they were "very surprised" to be nominated for the awards, which were held on Sunday.

"It was a great, fun night to be had for the team and it was awesome, an awesome award," he added.
