Malvern: Man dies after New Year's Eve pub attack

A man who was seriously injured in an attack outside a pub on New Year's Eve has died, police say.

West Mercia Police said it was called to The Beauchamp Arms on Worcester Road, Malvern, at 22:15 GMT on Sunday and found a man, aged in his 60s, with life-threatening injuries.

A 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on police bail.

The force said it was not looking for anyone else over the attack.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he later died from his injuries, said the force.

"I know an incident like this brings great concern to the local community and I would like to reassure people that this is an isolated incident," said Det Insp Mark Walters.

Anyone with information was urged to come forward.
