North East Lincolnshire Council has resumed its waste collection service after if was suspended for nearly two weeks because of the severe weather.

The council stopped the service on 29 November because of heavy snow and ice.

A spokeswoman said since it resumed on Saturday, it had picked up 496 tonnes of waste - more than double their weekly collection.

Hull City Council's rubbish collections are also back up and running, after some were disrupted by the weather.

A council spokesman said they had extra crews deployed across the city to help clear the backlog.
