Matthew Grove from the Conservative Party has been elected police and crime commissioner for the Humberside police area.

He is currently the MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Simone Butterworth is a Hull City councillor

Simone Butterworth has been selected as the Liberal Democrats candidate.

Ms Butterworth is a Hull City councillor for the Avenue Ward.

She said: "I'm standing in this election because people in the Humberside force area deserve a progressive alternative to the choices on offer."

PAUL DAVISON - Independent

Paul Davison said he would make the police investigate every crime

Paul Davison is standing as an Independent candidate.

A former chief superintendent, he retired earlier this year after working for Humberside Police for 30 years.

He said if elected he would insist that Humberside Police investigate every crime reported to them.

NEIL EYRE - Independent

Neil Eyre is a former soldier

Neil Eyre, who lives in North East Lincolnshire, is standing as an Independent candidate.

A former soldier who served in the Royal Signals, he now works as a project manager in Scunthorpe.

Mr Eyre is running on the slogan "Keep politics out of policing."

Matthew Grove is standing on behalf of the Conservative party.

Currently an East Riding of Yorkshire councillor, the Conservative candidate also runs his own business.

He said his top priorities would include cutting crime, freeing up police officers and supporting tougher community sentences.

JOHN PRESCOTT - Labour

Lord Prescott was a Labour MP in Hull for 40 years

John Prescott is standing as the Labour party candidate for the post.

He represented Hull as a Labour MP for 40 years and said that he was "honoured" to have been selected as the Labour candidate for the police commissioner role.

One of his campaign pledges is to give "better support for the victims of crime".

WALTER SWEENEY - Independent

Walter Sweeney was a Conservative MP in Wales

Walter Sweeney is standing as an Independent candidate for the post.

A former Conservative MP for Vale of Glamorgan between 1992 and 1997, he now runs a B&B in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

In his time as an MP he served on the home affairs select committee and has also served as a member of the Bedfordshire Police Authority.
