Work to upgrade major A160/A180 road brought forward

Work to turn a major road in North East Lincolnshire into a dual carriageway has been brought forward.

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said work on the A160/A180 in Immingham would start in summer 2015 instead of late 2016.

The £89m project, which is now due for completion in autumn 2016, will improve access to the Port of Immingham.

Motorists on the A160 currently experience severe congestion at peak times.

Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce has said the scheme is vital to the region's economic growth.
