Hull hosts free City of Culture 'thank you' party

  • Published

Free entertainment is taking place in Hull as a "thank you" to people who supported the city's successful bid to be the UK City of Culture in 2017.

The event in Queen Victoria Square features 40 live performances and short films involving 300 local performers and artists.

Hull won the title over rival bids from Leicester, Dundee and Swansea Bay.

The city council said residents' "phenomenal" support for the bid had been a key factor in its success.
