A woman has been charged with the murder of a South Yorkshire man who disappeared nearly five years ago.

June Buttle, from Doncaster, has been charged with the murder of Thomas Groome and is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Mr Groome was last seen on New Year's Day morning in 2010 as he left his son's house in Thorne, in the town.

He was reported missing and police launched a murder probe in 2012.

Ms Buttle was initially arrested in March 2013. A 34 year-old woman and a 37 year-old man, both from Wheatley, were also arrested but have been released without charge.

Mr Groome's family thought he had gone to Portugal but reported him missing when they could not contact him.
