A seaside town in East Yorkshire held its first seafood festival, organisers have said.

The festival at Bridlington Harbour was organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Holderness Coast Fishery Local Action Group to boost tourism.

More than 8,000 visitors attended and saw fishing vessels, seafood cookery demonstrations and plans for the town's new Maritime Trail.

Ray Williamson from the action group said it was a "fantastic success".

Conservation groups and historians gave talks on maritime and coastal wildlife and the history of Bridlington pier.

In 2011, council proposals for a new marina in Bridlington were put on hold because of the economic downturn.

Holderness Coast Fisheries Local Action Group, which is funded by the European Fisheries Fund, promotes a sustainable local fishing industry.
