Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of Claire Windass who was killed by a gunman on a Tunisian beach.

The 54-year-old, from Hull, was on the beach with her husband Jim who survived when the attack happened.

Her funeral was held at St Barnabas Church in Barnetby, North Lincolnshire, earlier.

Mr Windass paid tribute to his wife during the service, describing her as "a beautiful person who lived life to its full, and loved people".

Most of the 38 people killed in the attacks were British.

Gunman Seifeddine Rezgui was thought to have been part of a network inspired by Islamic State militants.

'Fantastic mum'

A horse-drawn hearse carried Mrs Windass's coffin through the village where she had grown up and lived during her childhood.

Her son Matthew also paid tribute and told mourners: "She was fantastic as a mum to me and [my sister] Eve. She made sure we'd want for nothing - especially love."

Rev Alan Wright, who led the service, said she was "well-known" in the village.

"It's very easy to dwell on the horrific circumstances of her death but of course there were 54 years before that, which need to be celebrated."

Mrs Windass, who leaves behind two children and two stepchildren, worked within North Lincolnshire Council's learning disability and intermediate care services team for 18 years.

She lived in Scunthorpe for 35 years before moving to Hull in 2012 when she married Mr Windass.
