The preferred candidate to be the new chief constable of Humberside Police has been named by the region's police and crime commissioner (PCC).

Lee Freeman, 48, has been selected to replace Justine Curran, who stepped down in February.

He is currently the force's temporary deputy chief constable.

PCC Keith Hunter said Mr Freeman has been appointed temporary Chief Constable with immediate effect pending approval by the Police and Crime Panel.
