    Grimsby Town defender Danny Collins has signed a new contract at the club.

    The 36-year-old has committed himself to a fresh one-year deal.

    Meanwhile his former centre-half partner Shaun Pearson, who signed for Wrexham last month, says he now accepts the Mariners' decision not to offer him a new contract to extend his stay.

    Josh Gowling is understood to have been offered a player/coach role at National League club Torquay United.

    Gowling played with Gulls' boss Kevin Nicholson at Kiddersminster Harriers and is expected to sign for them shortly.

    A group of amateur actors with physical or learning difficulties are performing on Hull Marina this week as part of Hull City of Culture.

    The group of 15 members of Castaway Goole are joined by professional actors and are performing on a barge.

    Those taking part say it's been an amazing experience.

    They'll perform again tomorrow.

    A Grimsby fish seller is reviving the traditional art of smoking fish to honour his father's legacy.

    Lee Williams bought a number of smokehouses with his father almost twenty years ago -- he agreed to his dad's last request to re-open and get the fish smoking process going again.

    More than 720,000 visits were made to the Maritime Museum in Hull during the two month display of ceramic poppies.

    The museum has become the most popular venue to host the poppies since the tour began in 2015.

    It was made as part of commemorations of the centenary of the First World War.

    Jordan Harrison, aged 17, (pictured second from left) from Bridlington has been named Britain's young fisherman of the year.

    The annual award has been announced by the industry publication "Fishing News."

    Jordan recently became the youngest person in the UK to secure a skipper's licence.

    Three teenagers - Teigan Welbourne, Taylor Welbourne and Daisy Kelly - reported missing in the Grimsby area last night have been found safe and well today.

    Police say they would like to thank the public and media for their assistance with helping to locate them.

    A train is being named after the former England football manager - Graham Taylor.

    He grew up in Scunthorpe and played for Grimsby Town.

    The West Coast service will call at Watford Junction, Aston, Wolverhampton and Wembley Central.

    London Midland is to re-christen the Class 350 model - to be known as Graham Taylor OBE.

    For generations fish and chips has provided millions of memories: eaten with greasy fingers on a seaside holiday, a pay-day treat at the end of the working week or a late-night supper on the way home from the pub.

    That's probably how we've ended up with a National Fish and Chip Day, which is today.

    And did you know that Yorkshire has more chippies than anywhere else in the country?

    That's according to the National Federation of Fish Friers, which says there are about 1,700 of them in our region - and apparently about one in five of us visit our nearest chip shop every week.
