Corey Jacob Dobbe was seriously injured and died a short time later

A 23-year-old man who was stabbed to death in the street has been named by police.

Corey Jacob Dobbe was found injured on Harleston Close, Hull, on Sunday night where, despite medical treatment, he died a short time later.

Det Ch Insp Alan Curtis said it was believed Mr Dobbe and his attacker were known to each other and that there was no wider threat to the public.

Police issued a CCTV image of a man the force want to speak to over the death.

Det Ch Insp Curtis said the man shown was wearing a white sweatshirt, trousers and trainers.

"Someone knows who this man is and where his is.

"We urgently want help from the public to identify and to speak to him about the incident", said Det Ch Insp Curtis.

It is not known if the man had travelled to the city or lived in Hull, he added.

Meanwhile, one man has described how he came to the aid of Mr Dobbe after seeing the attacker with a knife.

He said: "I got another neighbour who was just coming back from work and we both went to him and shouted at the lad with a knife and he scarpered off and then we could attend to him."

Appealing for more information, Det Ch Insp Curtis said: "If you have not yet spoken to us but believe you may know something that could assist us, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, it may assist us with our inquiries.

"Those living in the area will see an increased number of officers over the coming days carrying out inquiries and providing reassurance to residents and the local community."
