Witnesses reported hearing loud explosions and huge plumes of smoke coming from the Swinemoor Industrial Estate
Residents living near an industrial estate said they woke up to the sound of explosions caused by a large blaze.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was called to the Swinemoor Industrial Estate, Beverley, East Yorkshire, in the early hours of Saturday with six engines attending at its height.
Those near Beck View Road were advised to keep doors and windows closed.
The blaze, which caused extensive damage to a plant and machinery hire company, has been extinguished.
A road closure was put in place between Weel Road and Grovehill Roundabout while the fire was being tackled.

One resident said: "I thought it was fireworks going off or gunshots because that's what it sounded like, but it was explosions.
"It wasn't until I went to the bathroom that I saw fire through the window, there was a lot of black smoke and it was a bit disconcerting."
Another said she was woken up by an explosion which "rocked our floor" and loud popping noises.
