Scartho Top developers urged to act over access to growing Grimsby estate

Developers are being urged to make it a "priority" to build a second access route into a large estate.
Scartho Top in Grimsby already has 1,300 homes, with more planned, but only one way in and out.
A meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council heard this had led to long queues at peak times.
One councillor said despite the significant increase in the development, the highways infrastructure had not kept pace.
Scartho ward councillors Charlotte Croft and Ron Shepherd put forward a motion for a link road between Matthew Telford Park and Bluebell Road to be completed as "a number-one priority".
Work on the estate started in 1994, but since then there had been a "huge increase in traffic", the meeting was told.
A primary school with more than 200 places has recently been granted planning permission, as has a £1m village centre next door.
There is already an Aldi and a 66-bed care home on the housing development, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, external.
"Yet despite the significant increase in the development, the highways infrastructure has not kept pace," Ms Croft said.
'Common sense'
Mr Shepherd added: "Twenty-nine years and we still have only one access road onto this development.
"The council's planning and highways officers had a role to play in pushing developers and we urge officers, and our partners, and our elected members, to do something about this.
"We aren't here with a big stick to beat these people," he said, but called for some "common sense".
The motion urging the developer to take action was passed, but some called for it to be amended as it did not say the council would communicate its message to those involved.
However, council leader Philip Jackson said he felt an amendment would restrict all potential routes for the council to push for a second road.
