Two men who left a man dying from stab wounds following a fight in Grimsby have been jailed.

Jack Howes, 29, was found with multiple wounds in Macaulay Way in the Lincolnshire town on 20 March 2023.

On Monday at Hull Crown Court, Kian Feve, 22, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years after being found guilty of murder.

Robert Wattam, 24, who was found guilty of manslaughter, was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment.

Speaking after sentencing, Det Supt Nikki Burnett of Humberside Police said: "An altercation ensued between Jack, Kian Feve and Wattam, where Jack was subjected to a horrific attack, which sadly led to him sustaining a fatal stab wound.

"Making no attempt to help Jack, both Kian Feve and Wattam fled the scene leaving him for dead in the street. The unforgiveable actions of Kian Feve and Robert Wattam resulted in Jack, a 29-year-old man, losing his life."

During the two-week trial, Hull Crown Court heard how emergency crews had found Mr Howes with stab wounds to his chest and stomach. He died later in hospital.

CCTV showed Kian Feve, of Southfield Road, Scunthorpe, and Wattam, of Broughton, fleeing the scene, said Ms Burnett.

"Further CCTV footage identified Kian Feve and Wattam entering a property on Haycroft Street in Grimsby, immediately after the stabbing took place, remaining there for a short period of time, before being collected by a vehicle," she said.

"A warrant was executed, and we searched the property, recovering a knife from the rear garden which was forensically examined."

Mr Howes' blood and DNA belonging to Kian Feve was found on the knife, said Ms Burnett.

A third man, Darren Feve, 55, of Southfield Road, Scunthorpe, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice. He was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Ms Burnett commended Mr Howes' family for the "incredible strength" they displayed during the investigation.

She added: "Whilst the sentences imposed cannot bring Jack back, I really hope that this provides his loved ones with a sense of comfort in knowing that the men responsible for Jack's death are now behind bars and unable to harm anyone else."

In a statement, Mr Howes' family said: "Jack was adored and loved by his family and his loss has left us all completely devastated. We miss him every day. Our hearts are forever broken, and no sentence can bring Jack back."
