East Yorkshire: Dramatic footage shows cliff collapsing
People have been warned not to walk near the bottom or edges of coastal cliffs after parts of a cliff collapsed at Danes Dyke near Flamborough.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council posted on social media: "Following the heavy rain over the last few weeks, the cliffs are unstable and we have had a few significant cliff falls".
"Please stay away from the cliff bottom if you are walking along the beach.
"Also if you are walking along the top of the cliffs, keep well away from the edge as there are significant undercuts in some places."
The collapse on 2 January was captured on video by Josh Reading who was walking along the beach with his partner Rosie Willis.
A council spokesperson said it happened on private land and that the nature reserve and nearby King Charles III Coastal Path were not affected.
They added that no parts of the beach or any pathways had been closed.
The East Yorkshire coastline is one of the fastest-eroding in Europe.
In 2022, around 14ft (4.5m) of land was lost to the sea, the council said.
