Goole potholes: Call for repairs to damaged road
- Published
Pothole repairs on a road in Goole are "not at a good enough standard", a councillor has claimed.
Residents of Marlborough Avenue want the entire road resurfaced rather than having individual potholes filled.
One resident said she has had to replace her car tyres a number of times due to damage.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said its future maintenance programme would "take account of the current state of Marlborough Avenue".
Conservative councillor Nick Coultish said the road surface there had reached the end of its life and he wanted proper repair work to be undertaken.
"I've had lots of pothole reports on this street as it's a particularly bad one," he said.
"I've reported those and some of the dangerous ones have been filled, but residents have come back to me and told me that they're still not happy with the general state of the road."
He added: "Maybe rather than hundreds of pounds, maybe it needs thousands of pounds of repairs, to bring this up to a state that residents will appreciate."
One woman said she was worried about further damage to her car after being forced to replace her tyres.
"It's very bad because it's repair on repair... but not [a] full street repair," she said.
The council said it invests more than £5m annually repairing unclassified roads and added: "Our future plans are revised each year to take account of changes in road condition.
"We are currently updating our planned maintenance programme and will take account of the current state of Marlborough Avenue.
"In the meantime our highways team will continue to monitor the route and take appropriate action."
