Grimsby: Work begins on town's NHS diagnostic centre

The facility offering services including ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests is due to open in the summer
Work has begun on a community diagnostic centre in Grimsby that aims to offer thousands of extra appointments a year.
The community facility will allow patients to access "potentially lifesaving checks" without having to go to hospital, health bosses said.
It is hoped the centre in Freshney Place will be open by summer.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust said it will offer 150,000 diagnostic appointments a year.
The facility will provide a range of non-urgent test facilities, including ultrasound, X-ray and blood tests, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Officials said it would allow for more rapid diagnosis of conditions such as cancer, which in turn will help patients access treatments more quickly.
Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council Philip Jackson said: "We've been working on this with the NHS for some months now, and I'm pleased work is going to start on creating this new facility for our residents."
The government has pledged to open 160 diagnostic centres across the country by March 2025.
