Unused Hull police station to be sold to schools academy

An unused police station in Hull is to be sold to a schools academy trust.
Gordon Street Police Station, off Boulevard, has been vacant since 2018 and has become a target for antisocial behaviour.
Venn Academy Trust has made an unconditional offer of £350,000 to buy the station.
Jonathan Evison, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Humberside, has approved the decision.
Humberside Police said the building is costing thousands of pounds to maintain, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
'Most viable offer'
Venn Academy Trust, which runs services in the Boulevard Centre, plans to use the building for educational purposes.
A petition set up by the St Andrews Regeneration and Redevelopment community group calling for the 19th Century building to be saved has been signed by 222 people.
In the decision record, PCC Evison said: "The property has become a focus for antisocial behaviour due to it no longer being occupied.
"The ongoing running of the property despite no longer being operational is still costing Humberside Police in the region of £12,000 in utilities, security and compliance costs."
PCC Evison said the offer from the academy "would seem the most viable" given its "presence in the local community".
