Treeby sister 'saw brother killed' outside Kent house

A woman whose brother was killed outside her house in Kent has told a court that four members of their family were there at the time.

Father-of-five Jack Treeby, 43, died after being run over with a Range Rover in Tovil, near Maidstone, in December.

His brother Bill Treeby, 50, Bill's wife Charity Treeby, 51, and their sons Billy Treeby, 29, and George Treeby, 23, all of Paddock Wood, deny murder.

At Maidstone Crown Court, Mary Treeby said she had a "grandstand" view.

The four defendants are also accused of attempting to murder another of her brothers, Gary Treeby.

The four, of Queen Street, also each face a charge of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). They are also accused of the attempted murder and attempted GBH of Jack Treeby's son, Jack. The family deny all charges against them.

Recalling the events of 27 December 2009, Ms Treeby told the court that she had been very frightened.

"[There was] just so much going on. There was shooting and crashing. Both [vehicles] were banging and crashing... I was so frightened," she said.

She said the four defendants were in the vehicles at the scene.

Giving evidence, Ms Treeby's partner Danny Clark said he had received a call from Bill Treeby that night, asking if Jack and Gary Treeby were at the house.

He went on to tell jurors that he relayed this conversation on the telephone to Jack Treeby, but was told there was nothing wrong.

He then recalled how he told Ms Treeby: "I don't feel right, I think something's going on."

Mr Clark then left the house and did not see the alleged attack.
