Train operators said there were running normal timetables on Wednesday

Travel services in Kent are returning to normal across the county following several days of disruption because of the weather.

Both Southeastern trains and Southern Railway said they were running normal timetables on Wednesday.

Trains on Southeastern will have fewer carriages to allow maintenance work to be carried out ones that were damaged by the snow and ice.

Eurostar said it hoped to run a "near normal" service on Wednesday.

Bright spells

Passengers faced queues of at least three hours at stations on Tuesday.

In a statement on its website the company said: "Eurostar is planning to operate a near normal service on Wednesday 22nd.

"Please arrive at the station one hour before the time of departure shown on your ticket, you will not be able to travel on earlier services.

"We will only check-in customers for the service that is shown on your ticket."

First Capital Connect is still operating a reduced timetable because of the weather conditions.

The Met Office said the weather in Kent on Wednesday would remain mainly dry with bright spells.

Kent Police have urged motorists to take extra care on the roads while temperatures remain low.
