The M20 in Kent has been reopened by police dealing with congestion caused by lorries waiting to cross the Channel.

There may be residual delays in the area while the road network returns to normal, Kent Police said.

Operation Stack had closed the road coastbound from junction eight at Hollingbourne to 11 at Hythe.

Last week the government said Kent's roads had become "intolerable" because of the issue.

Transport minister Robert Goodwill told Parliament several options were being looked at to deal with delays, partly caused by disruption at Calais.

Last month thousands of lorries were stuck on the motorway in the worst disruption, caused by strikes at Calais.
