Detectives investigating allegations of abuse at a young offenders' centre in Kent have charged a woman.

Rebecca Harold, of Grecian Street, Maidstone, was charged with common assault of a 15-year-old boy in relation to allegations of abuse at the G4S-run Medway Secure Training Centre.

The 24-year-old has been released on bail and will appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on 23 August.

Seven men and two other women remain on police bail until 21 September.

Two further men have been released without charge.

Kent Police began an investigation after BBC Panorama broadcast behind-the-scenes from the Rochester-based centre in January.

The force said the charge related to an alleged incident on 3 April.
