Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to Minster Road in Minster-on-Sea

Firefighters have issued an alert after a blaze at a house which was caused by an e-bike catching fire while charging.

Two fire engines were called to Minster Road, in Minster-on-Sea, in Sheerness, Kent, at 15:10 GMT, on New Year's Eve.

It is thought the fire began in the garage where the e-bike was on charge before spreading to the rest of the property.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said two people inhaled "a small amount of smoke".

The service reminded people that e-bikes, e-cigarettes and e-scooters should be charged in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

"Remember to make sure they are charged when someone is home and awake, and unplugged when finished," the force added.
