Kent Police are appealing for information after an officer was injured in the collision on Friday

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a police officer was hit by a car that reportedly failed to stop at the scene.

Kent Police said the officer, who was on foot carrying out speed checks, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries in the incident at about 15:15 GMT on Friday.

He remained in hospital on Monday.

The man arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A silver Vauxhall Vectra, matching the description of the car involved in the collision, was found in Hornash Lane, Shadoxhurst later on Friday, the force said.

It is believed to have travelled along Tally Ho Road shortly after the crash in Coulter Road, near the junction with Hedgers Way.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
