Kent Police investigate after Dartford postboxes painted gold

At least five postboxes in Dartford have been painted gold in the last couple of weeks

Police have launched an investigation after multiple postboxes were painted gold.

The BBC is aware of at least five boxes that have been painted between 31 January and 5 February in the Temple Hill area of Dartford, Kent.

A Kent Police spokesperson described the incidents as "criminal damage" and said they were "working closely with Royal Mail".

Police have released an image of a man they say could assist their enquiries.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We have been engaging with Kent Police on this matter and are supporting their investigation.

"In the meantime, we are in the process of having the affected postboxes restored to their original red."

Police are appealing with anyone who witnessed anything or who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
