Diamond Jubilee: Morecambe's promenade-long party
- Published
Rain did not dampen spirits in Morecambe where the Diamond Jubilee party took place along a 1.5 mile (2.4km) stretch of the promenade.
Some 550 tables were set stretching from the landmark Polo Tower theme park site to Morecambe Bay lifeboat station.
Organiser Tricia Heath said: "Fingers crossed the weather will get better, but it won't stop our party."
Three thousand tickets were sold at £5, with the proceeds split between Help The Heroes and St John's Hospice.
The centrepoint of the party was a statue of the comedian Eric Morecambe, with tables stretching out either side.
The sound of fire engine sirens marked the start of the event.
Hundreds of events have taken place across Lancashire including live music, street parties and fairs.
Preston's Sikh Community hosted its Big Jubilee Langer (lunch) in Wilson Park.
The Langer, officially opened by Preston Guild Mayor Councillor Carl Crompton, involved singing, dancing and a "free community" kitchen.
Organisers of one party in Lytham put back the start until late afternoon in the hope that the weather would improve.
