Arrests are for the alleged downloading of indecent images of children

Twenty-two people have been arrested by police investigating child sexual exploitation in Lancashire during a week-long campaign.

Lancashire Constabulary is working with other professionals in healthcare and social services as part of Child Sex Exploitation Awareness Week.

All the arrests are for alleged offences relating to downloading indecent images of children.

Four men arrested earlier remain in custody while 18 men have been bailed.

Det Supt Neil Esseen said: "This week we have executed 20 search warrants around the county which has resulted in the arrest of 22 people who we believe have been involved in receiving and distributing sexual images of children.

"The public quite rightly expects us to protect children from being exploited and that is exactly what we will continue to deliver."
