Blackburn: Nine-year-old boy dies after being hit by a car as he crossed road

A nine-year-old boy who was hit by a car while crossing the road has died from his injuries, police said.
The 25-year-old driver of a white BMW 4 Series has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The boy suffered multiple injuries and died later in hospital after being hit at 22.55 BST on Thursday as he crossed Whalley New Road in Blackburn.
Lancashire Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision to contact them.
Sgt David Hurst, of the Road Policing Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident where a young boy has sadly died.
"An investigation into the collision is under way and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision to contact us as soon as possible."
