Storm Debi: Amber wind warning as Lancashire prepares for 80mph gusts
- Published
An amber warning for wind has been issued across Lancashire as the county prepares to face Storm Debi.
The Met Office said, external strong westerly winds were expected to develop across North-West England through the day.
It said inland winds of up to 65mph (105km/h) were likely, whilst the coast could face gusts of up to 80mph (130km/h).
The warning, which also covers part of Cumbria and the north of Merseyside, will be in place until 16:00.
A Met Office representative said people should be wary of "flying debris", as "some damage to buildings" was likely.
They also said travellers should be prepared for "longer journey times and cancellations".
They added that people near the coast should be wary of the risks from large waves and beach material being thrown on to coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.
