A man has died after he was struck by a lorry on a motorway in Lancashire, prompting a police appeal.

Police said the man, aged in his 40s, was hit by a DAF truck on the northbound carriageway of the M61 near Rivington Services at about 22:00 GMT on Wednesday.

He died at the scene, Lancashire Police said.

The force has urged anyone who saw a man on the hard shoulder or who has dash-cam footage to get in touch.
