A man who raped a young girl from the age of six until she was 13 and also repeatedly targeted a woman has been jailed.

Adam Degney, of Bolton, Greater Manchester, subjected his victims to an "unimaginable ordeal", police said.

The 30-year-old admitted charges of rape, making indecent child images and voyeurism.

He was jailed for 15 years at Bolton Crown Court and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Det Con Stephen Wildman described Degney's actions as "horrific", adding: "I'm sincerely glad that he is now behind bars."

Greater Manchester Police said his crimes were discovered in August 2023 after the child confided to a loved one.

Filmed abuse

Officers then unearthed a catalogue of sexual offences as the young victim told police she was raped over a seven-year period from the age of six.

An adult woman also came forward to say she had been a victim of Degney's abuse, describing being raped on various occasions, sometimes while she was sleeping.

Police said Degney was often physically and verbally aggressive with her, threatening to "chop her head off" and whittling her self-confidence "further and further down over time".

A search of his phone revealed several images and deleted videos of Degney filming his abuse.

He admitted three counts of rape of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child, sexual activity with a child, making indecent images of a child, two counts of rape of a female over 16 and two counts of voyeurism.
