Skelmersdale murder inquiry releases CCTV of suspect on bike

Detectives investigating the death of a man who was fatally shot outside a gym have released CCTV showing the murder suspect leaving the scene.

Lenny Scott was found injured in Peel Road, Skelmersdale, at around 19:35 GMT on 8 February and died in hospital.

The 33-year-old was targeted in a "cruel and cold-blooded assassination", Lancashire Police said.

CCTV shows the suspect on an e-bike or scrambler wearing black clothing with an orange high-vis jacket.

Police have asked for anyone who may have seen anyone matching the description, or have seen any "abandoned bikes" or "burnt-out vehicles or discarded clothing" in the area to contact them.

Det Supt Gareth Willis said: "While we do at this stage believe that Lenny was the intended target of this shooting what we do not know yet is why he was targeted.

"We are keeping an open mind about the motive for what can only be described as a cruel and cold-blooded assassination, and I would appeal to anyone who may have information about why this has happened to get in touch."

He said there were "a number of people in and around the car park at around the time of the shooting" and urged them to come forward.

A 25-year-old man from Liverpool, arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, has been released on bail.
