A woman who was seriously injured in a motorway crash after a car lost control while overtaking a lorry has died.
The Peugeot 208 hit a barrier along the M65 on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 near Preston at about 19:00 GMT on Wednesday.
It then collided with several other vehicles, Lancashire Police said.
The woman, in her 30s, who was a passenger, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she later died.
The driver, a man in his 40s, and a child suffered less serious injuries. Nobody else was hurt.
Sgt Phil Baxendale said: "Very sadly this collision has now resulted in a woman losing her life and I would continue to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward and speak to us."
