Preston school for pupils with depression and anxiety approved

A small school for pupils with anxiety, depression and eating disorders is set to open in a city centre.

Plans for the secondary school in Preston have been approved by the council.

A maximum of 10 pupils will be on site at the Fishergate Court complex in Christian Road at any one time, along with four members of staff.

Independent provider Refresh Education said "a diverse range of academic subjects" would be taught.

Classes at the state-funded school will take place between 09:00 and 13:00, for those unable to access mainstream education due to medical-related reasons.

However, no details have been released about the catchment area or whether it will admit pupils from across a wider patch than a mainstream secondary school.
