Blackburn: Teen arrested after officer hit by car

A teenager has been arrested after a police officer was struck by a car in an alleged hit-and-run.

The incident occurred after the officer saw a stolen car in Fred Pickering Place, Blackburn, at about midday on Tuesday.

He went in front of the car to speak to the driver before police said he was driven at.

The boy, 16, was held on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, assault and dangerous driving.

Officers had initially been called to New Chapel Street after reports a black Volkswagen Polo had been stolen some time between 26 March to 2 April.

The officer was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which were not serious.

Police say they are continuing to look for the black mobility car involved in the incident.
