Police issue heroin warning after man's death in Morley

Police have warned about a strong or potentially contaminated batch of heroin after the death of a drug user.

The 26-year-old man was found dead at a property in Bank Avenue, Morley, West Yorkshire, at 13:30 GMT on Sunday.

Police said he had been taking drugs before his death, but a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.

Three men, aged 30, 42 and 58, who were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in connection with the man's death, have been released on bail.

Det Insp David Roberts, of West Yorkshire Police, said it was not clear if the strength of the heroin had been a factor or if it had been contaminated with something unusual.

"Police and public health officials feel it is appropriate to advise drugs users that if they feel unwell or get an unusual reaction to something they have taken, they should seek medical advice immediately," he said.
