Planning permission has been granted for an £8.5m 1000-space park-and-ride site in Leeds.

The site on Temple Green Road, which lies within the Aire Valley Enterprise Zone, will be the city's second new park-and ride scheme.

An 800-space facility at Elland Road opened in June.

Leeds City Council said the new site was expected to be operational in 2016, with buses to the city centre every 15 minutes.

The authority said the scheme would be one of the first to be funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's transport fund, which was established in April.

There is also a small park and ride site in King Lane to the north of the city.
