Nicola Adams' Olympic souvenirs stolen in Leeds burglary

Olympic souvenirs belonging to boxing champion Nicola Adams were among items stolen in a burglary at a family member's home in Leeds.

Miss Adams, 32, withdrew from this weekend's England Boxing Elite National Championships in Liverpool following the theft on Wednesday.

Two cars and a Team GB 2012 holdall and watch were among the items taken.

Miss Adams, who was in the house at the time, said the items were of "great sentimental value" to her.

The burglary at a house in the Halton area of Leeds took place at about 08:00 BST when thieves stole the keys to Miss Adams' Hyundai Veloster Turbo and a silver Ford Focus.

Many of the stolen items were personalised, police said

West Yorkshire Police said both cars were then driven away from the property.

Boxing equipment was in the boot of the Hyundai ahead of Miss Adams travelling to Liverpool, along with the holdall and an overnight bag.

Three pairs of boxing boots, including the pair she wore in the Commonwealth Games, three pairs of boxing gloves and a short and vest she was due to wear in Liverpool were also taken.

The watch had been presented to the boxer to mark her victory at the 2012 Olympics.

Miss Adams said: "I would be very grateful for the return of my car and stolen belongings, some of which were gifts to me following my much-recognised wins for England and Great Britain as well as personalised items meant for my next national match."
