Nicola Adams had two cars stolen in a burglary at her home

Olympic champion Nicola Adams has withdrawn from this weekend's England Boxing Elite National Championships after some of her possessions were stolen from her brother's home.

Two cars and her training kit were stolen in the burglary in Leeds.

Adams, 32, was staying at the property but nobody inside was aware of the break-in.

"I'm deeply regretful to have to pull out. It's not an easy time for me and my family," she said.

"We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and support - the boxing team, the police and all my supporters."

Mark Abberley, chief executive of England Boxing said: "The most important thing is that Nicola and her family were unharmed and our thoughts and best wishes are with them."

The tournament takes place in Liverpool at the Echo Arena on April 25-26.
