A West Yorkshire Police officer has been found guilty of assaulting a person under arrest.
Bradford-based constable Jacob Swallow, 24, was accused of attacking a suspect in Keighley in June last year.
At a trial at York Magistrates' Court on Thursday he pleaded not guilty to common assault, but was found guilty by the judge.
Swallow was remanded on bail and is due at York Magistrates' Court for sentencing on 3 May.
West Yorkshire Police said Swallow had been placed on restrictive duty following a review of body-worn video footage.
They said the force would move forward with misconduct proceedings now the case had finished.
Det Ch Supt Nicola Bryar, of the force's professional standards directorate, said: "The law recognises that there are situations where police officers may be required to use force."
However, she said force should only be used when "reasonable, necessary and proportionate".
Det Ch Supt Bryar added that there was "no justification for punching the detainee in the circumstances".
